Welcome to Better Educators.

Hello!

My name is Lexi and I am the founder of Better Educators.

You may be thinking ‘great, another person that thinks I am bad at my job’ based on the name; however, my goal is to squash that narrative. See, I believe that most educators do the work because we are passionate, motivated, and inspired to work with kids. As a society we have seen an aggressive number of teachers flee from the profession based on irrational expectations from administration, failing professional development opportunities with minimal teacher buy-in, and lack of pay and resources for educators.

I, selfishly, started building this initiative in January of 2022 when I felt maxed out as a teacher. Each day I questioned if I could work another year, month, week, and sometimes hour in the profession. I was burnt out and really didn’t see myself being able to continue. At the time I wasn’t ready to dive into becoming a better educator because mentally I wasn’t in that headspace, but I did know that I needed some form of change to motivate and inspire me.

After 5 months in a new district with a supportive, teacher-focused culture, I realized I was ready to dive into my passion project that could, hopefully, uplift and inspire other teachers that are ready to get out of the rut, but not ready to leave education.
